GREENEVILLE, TN - The Greeneville Astros will continue their tradition of Hometown Bobbleheads that started in 2007, by honoring local country music celebrities The Band Perry. They will join the likes of Dale Alexander, Andrew Johnson, Davy Crockett, Scott Niswonger and Rance Pless. The event, which is sponsored by Laughlin Memorial Hospital, will take place on Thursday, June 28, 2012 with $1 of every ticket purchased for the game going to benefit United Way. There will also be a VIP Meet & Greet with The Band Perry presented by Tusculum College prior to the game from 5:00pm - 6:00pm. All proceeds from the VIP Meet & Greet will also go to benefit United Way.
"Each year, we put our due diligence into creating a special bobblehead for our fans and this year is no exception," said General Manager David Lane. "We are thrilled to be able to give out TBP bobbleheads but even more excited about the opportunity to give back to our local community through United Way. There are a limited number of bobbleheads but the night is ultimately about giving. $1 of every game ticket purchased and all proceeds from the VIP session will go to United Way. It's a bobblehead tribute with a charitable theme."
"The Band Perry Night" with TBP Hometown Bobblehead giveaway is sponsored by Laughlin Memorial Hospital. TBP Hometown Bobbleheads will be given out at the gates that evening. There are a limited number available, so fans are encouraged to purchase their game tickets and arrive early. Gates open at 6:00pm. The Astros play the Danville Braves at 7:00pm. $1 of every game ticket purchased will benefit United Way.
A pregame VIP Meet & Greet with The Band Perry presented by Tusculum College will take place from 5:00pm - 6:00pm with all proceeds going to benefit United Way. There are only 200 tickets available for this limited session. Tickets are $75 which includes a ticket to the game, a bobblehead, an all-you-can-eat picnic and an acoustic performance by The Band Perry. VIP Meet & Greet tickets can only be purchased in the box office and will go on sale on Monday, May 21 at 10am. You must have a ticket to the VIP session to attend.
Tickets for all 2012 Greeneville Astros home games, including June 28, will go on sale on-line at www.greenevilleastros.com on Monday, May 14 at 10:00am. Fans can purchase tickets at the box office or over the phone starting at 10:00am on Monday, May 21. $1 of every ticket purchased for the June 28 game and all proceeds from the VIP Meet & Greet will go to benefit United Way.
Since signing to Republic Nashville in August of 2009, The Band Perry is the reigning CMA "New Artist of the Year" and also took home CMA awards for "Single of the Year" and "Song of the Year" for their #1 hit, "If I Die Young." They are recipients of two ACM Awards, "Top New Vocal Duo or Group" and "Top New Artist" and they are also nominated in this year's ACM Awards for "Vocal Group of the Year." The group was awarded two CMT Music Awards in 2011, "USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year" for "If I Die Young" and "Nationwide Insurance on Your Side Award," for the best new live act.
Their debut CD THE BAND PERRY has been certified Platinum and their single "If I Die Young" has been certified Quadruple-Platinum. A Grammy nomination for "Best Country Song" was garnered for "If I Die Young" during the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2011 and a nomination for "Best New Artist" for the 54th Annual Grammy Awards in February of 2012. Their hit song "All Your Life" topped the charts in the #1 position on the country radio charts for two consecutive weeks and has also been certified GOLD by the RIAA for sales exceeding 500,000 units. Their single "You Lie" has also been certified GOLD.
The Band Perry is also nominated for a CMT Music Award for "Group Video of the Year" for the video for "All Your Life." The Band Perry's current single "Postcard From Paris" is out right now and promises to be their next big hit! The sibling trio is currently writing and recording their sophomore release.
